Dancing a Reel at the Civil War Ball

A wallhanging I finished several years ago. Several people have asked me about my dA avatar, which is taken from this quilt, so I decided to go ahead and post the photo of the whole quilt. Cotton, machine pieced and quilted, approximately one meter wide. The photo doesn't quite do justice to the colors.

This pattern is traditionally known as "Snail Trail" or "Virginia Reel." The spirals remind me of watching the ladies at our local Civil War ball, spinning through the reels in their beautiful Victorian gowns.
